It was great to be back out eventing at the weekend, and a huge thanks to Larkhill for persevering through the weather.
Total darkness did a nice test to take us into the show jumping phase on a score of 30, where he had one unfortunate pole, but with a lovely, steady cross country, we finished on a clear round. This was his first run out, straight into the Novice, which wasn’t planned so finishing 9th was a great start to his season.
Troja Queen also went in the Novice (owned by the Geissler family). She started a little excited for the the dressage but put her all into it. In a muddy showjumping round she did brilliantly to come out on only four faults to then give me lovely clear cross country for our first run together.
Midnight Chill owned by Clare white also had his first run scoring 32.5 in the dressage with a beautiful, easy double clear in the time to finish in the top ten.
Quintessential was a superstar for her first event, having only been broken a year ago. She concentrated really well throughout scoring 30 in her first ever test. She rolled a couple of poles (can’t blame her one the side of a hill, in the mud!) but jumped a great, confident round and was absolutely fab round the cross country! I’m so proud of this mare and the performance she put in, can’t wait to see what she has in store future.
Leah and Maddie also had a great day for their first event of the season making it six out of six clears cross country for Team Keen – not a bad way to start the season!
