It was such an honour to be on the British team for the home leg of the FEI Nations Cup series at Houghton Hall at the weekend.
The German team won for the second year running narrowly beating Australia by just 0.4 penalties. Our team comprised Izzy Taylor (Call Me Maggie May), Laura Collett (Mr Bass) and Sarah Bullimore (Valentino V).
Derby (Wellshead Fare Opposition) was on really great form, performing a super dressage test and jumping a very good, steady double clear which is a great prep run for Luhmuhlen CCI**** on June 16 – 19.
Pontispool Horse Trials May 30
Yesterday we headed to Somerset to Pontispool which was a mixed day. April (Total Belief) did a lovely test in the novice to score 30.5, rolled an unlucky pole showjumping but really wasn’t her normal self cross country. She has had a faultless record to date and always super cross country so I will give her a full check over.
Lola (Cascadelle) did one of her best tests this season and she then jumped a lovely double clear to finish third in the Intermediate Novice. She feels ready to go Intermediate now.
Jake (Highmead Proposition) also produced a lovely test to score 27.5 in his third intermediate but he became very tense in the showjumping and had four down. He is a brilliant jumper but needs to learn to relax at this level. He was then superb cross country and gave me a lovely confident ride.
Intermediate is a big step up from novice and with more experience he’ll learn to relax in the showjumping.
