A relatively relaxed weekend for Team Keen at Farley with a horse running on each day for me and our working pupil Maddie was also competing.
We took Quintessential on Saturday and she had another good run. A nice, consistent test for a score of 30. One unlucky pole rolled when she lost balance going down hill and we then finished on a great confident, but steady, clear cross country. Her plan is now Tweseldown and Dauntsey 5 year old qualifiers.
Midnight Chill, owned by Clare White, ran in the novice on Sunday. I was really pleased with how he went. He did a great test for 33.5, followed up by a lovely double clear. Time penalties just dropped us out of the top ten, but I really feel like he’s come on a heap since the beginning of the season and started to grow into his body. Clare will now take over the reins for a few events, and he will then come back to me to prep for Osberton 6yr old championships in the autumn.
It was also great to see Maddie going so well on her lovely chestnut horse – they nailed all three phases and looked fab.
Team Keen are now on the long road to Strzegom, Poland with top man Derby for the Nations Cup event – fingers crossed!
