We had an extremely soggy outing to Calmsden on Saturday with Margaret Cuff’s two horses – Leaping Lord and Barrison and our apprentice Leah was also competing.
Both my horses are still relatively new to the team and I was pleased with our day. Barrison did a 29 dressage, one down show-jumping and nice steady clear cross country. Leaping Lord was a little bit excitable in the dressage – it didn’t quite come off this time in this phase! He jumped a good show-jumping round, feeling more relaxed and then finished up with an easy clear cross-country. It wasn’t a winning day this time but an improving day, which is a great building block. Leah and her horse King went really well and I was super impressed with their round cross-country.
On Sunday I did something a bit different and headed up to Horse of the Year Show to take part in a chat show in their live zone. I did this with fellow Stride Rider, Franky Reid-Warrilow, and it was a great experience. There were more people there then we originally thought, but it all went to plan and we have even been asked back next year! We got to watch a bit of show-jumping too which was fun so all in all a good afternoon spent.
